With
EMCExplorer, you will test two Equipment Under Test (EUT) of the same product. One is the Golden Pattern that has already been put through the standard EMC Lab test and will never be modified
in subsequent tests with EMCExplorer. Another is the Target Pattern that
is always modified throughout the test with EMCExplorer. By testing
both Golden and Target patterns in your workshop with an
oscilloscope, meanwhile marking test point position and data file
name on EUT layout images with EMCExplorer, you can import and
analyze the acquired data by EMCExplorer. The first time, both
analysis results should be similar. Then, modify Target Pattern
according to EMCExplorer analysis result and carry out above process
again. The second EMCExplorer analysis will show different analysis
results. By comparing the
Golden Pattern EMCExplorer analysis result with the Target Pattern
EMCExplorer analysis result, you can find if your modifications are
forward in the right direction. Continue to do so until your Target Pattern EMCExplorer analysis result is greatly improved
comparing
with the Golden Pattern EMCExplorer analysis result (It is well confirmed that the percentage of the EMI reduction in EMCExplorer
test equals the percentage of the EMI reduction in a standard EMC lab
test). That completes a full EMCExplorer test
process. If you have changed the components on your current product that already accords with EMC standards, to overcome a problem with components supply, or modified the design to improve manufacturability, you need only to test the Golden Pattern of the old product together with the Target Pattern
of the product after changing, and analyze both with EMCExplorer. If the EMI spectrum of Target Pattern is equal to or
below that of Golden Pattern according to EMCExplorer analysis, your product will still be in accord with EMC standards, as the old one was, so that there will be no need to redo standard EMC Lab test anymore.
